What is incorporation?

Definition of incorporation

Incorporation is the legal process by which a new or existing business registers as a limited company with Companies House under the Companies Act 2006.

Once a business is incorporated as a company, UK tax law requires the company directors to file certain documents with HMRC every year, such as an annual return and a confirmation statement.

The directors are also responsible for informing Companies House about certain changes to the company, such as the appointment or resignation of directors or a change in registered office.
