What is a company start date?

Definition of company start date

A company’s start date is the date on which it legally came into existence. It’s like the company’s birthday.

A limited company comes into legal existence by being registered at Companies House, a government body. Once Companies House has processed the application for registration, it will create, or “incorporate”, the company, and issue a certificate showing the date the company was incorporated. This is the company start date.
