How do I set up a Tyl integration to allow online payments for FreeAgent invoices?
Log in to your FreeAgent account and select 'Connections & Add-ons' from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the screen. Select 'Learn more' in the 'Tyl by NatWest' section. Select 'Connect with Tyl'. If you already have a Tyl account, log in using your Tyl email address and password, then follow the on-screen instructions. If you don't have a Tyl account, select 'Sign up here' to create an account. For more information, including how to take invoice payments using Tyl, please find a step-by-step guide here.
*Please note that you cannot currently use this Tyl invoice payment integration alongside the Tyl accounting data integration for syncing sales and data charges.
Tyl by NatWest does not appear in my 'Connections & Add-ons' section - how do I set up a Tyl invoice payment integration?
If the 'Tyl by NatWest' section does not appear in the 'Connection & Add-ons' section in your FreeAgent account, please contact our support team to request access to the Tyl invoice payment integration.
How will I be charged for using Tyl payment links in FreeAgent?
For current Tyl customers, your existing Tyl pricing for accepting payment links will apply for payments received through your FreeAgent invoices. Unless otherwise stated, you will find information regarding your existing pricing in your Tyl portal. For new to Tyl customers, these fees will be communicated as part of a competitive quote.
What company types are eligible to use Tyl payment capability through FreeAgent invoicing?
The Tyl invoice payment integration is available only for UK business types and supports both non-VAT-registered businesses and VAT-registered businesses that sell only standard-rated goods and services. If you're running a VAT-registered business and sell non-standard-rated goods or services, then we suggest that you don't use the Tyl invoice payment integration to record your sales data in FreeAgent but use the Tyl acccounting data integration to record your fees instead.

What payment types are supported when using Tyl payment capability with FreeAgent invoicing?
Currently the only payments that are automatically set up to be accepted through the Tyl payment links are e-commerce payments, not face-to-face payments. Face-to-face payments may still be supported but you will need to contact Tyl to see if this capability can be added once the connection has been authorised.
How do I sign up to become a Tyl customer?
To open a Tyl account, on your FreeAgent 'Overview' screen, select 'Connections & Add-ons' from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner. Select 'Learn more' in the 'Tyl by NatWest' section and on the next page, select 'Get Started with Tyl'.
How much of my data is shared between Tyl and FreeAgent if I link my accounts?
Only relevant data is shared between Tyl and FreeAgent. This includes essential company identifiers, plus the currency, value and reference number of any invoice which has a Tyl payment link. For more information, please see the Tyl privacy policy.
How do I set up a Tyl accounting data integration to sync my sales and charges with FreeAgent?
Log in to your Tyl account, select 'Integrations' from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner. Select 'Connect' below 'FreeAgent' from the available list. Once you have reviewed the terms and conditions, select 'Continue' and you will be redirected to sign in to your FreeAgent account. Once you have entered your details, select 'Approve app!'.
*Please note that Tyl withdrew this integration for new customers on 8th November 2023. It will only be available if you set up the integration before this date. If you already have the integration set up and choose to disconnect it, you will not be able to reconnect it.
