A simplified client transfer process
We’ve made some changes to simplify and automate the process of transferring clients. This allows you to add existing FreeAgent users, such as direct subscribers and subsidised NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland subscribers, directly to your Practice Dashboard and begin working with them in double-quick time!
The new process
Before you start the new transfer process you’ll need to ask your client for their FreeAgent subdomain. Your new client can follow these steps in order to find the details you need.
Once you have the client’s subdomain to hand, navigate to ‘My Clients’ in your Practice Dashboard. Select ‘Add Account’ and then ‘Transfer Existing Account’ from the drop-down menu and then enter the client’s email and subdomain details. This will automatically send a request to the new client, asking them to confirm the transfer.
This new approach to transferring clients should reduce the amount of time you and your new clients need to spend getting them set up on FreeAgent. You no longer have to jump between your dashboard and email and you don’t need to send a transfer request to our support team. This allows you to focus on more important things, like making the most of your new accountant/client relationship!

Some exceptions
If your new client is currently working with another accountant and wishes to move to your practice, they’ll need to be removed from their previous accountant’s dashboard before you can follow the above steps and transfer them to your dashboard.
Any clients who currently subscribe to FreeAgent through a third-party subscription provider (e.g. Apple) will need to contact our support team (support@freeagent.com) if they wish to use FreeAgent through your practice.
If your client wants to continue to manage their own FreeAgent subscription and maintain their level of control within their account, then please follow the linking process instead.
