Nine industry events to put in your calendar in 2020
Struggling to decide which conferences, workshops and award ceremonies to attend this year? We’ve pulled together our top nine recommendations for the events we believe will offer some of the best learning and networking opportunities in 2020.
1. Accountex - 13th and 14th May, London
Accountex is one of the biggest annual accounting trade shows in Europe. Industry representatives will gather for two days of fascinating talks from thought leaders and product demonstrations from fintech brands. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with peers and, of course, sample copious amounts of free goodies!
2. Digital Accountancy Show - 26th March, London
Accountants who are curious about the possibilities presented by digital technology should consider attending the Digital Accountancy Show. Attendees will hear from keynote speakers about the latest industry trends and have numerous networking opportunities with peers. With the expo and theatres free to attend, this is a great cost-effective option to have in your calendar!
3. FreeAgent’s roadshow events - March, UK-wide
We’ll be hitting the road again this year, bringing our popular roadshow events to six venues across the UK. Attendees will learn how they can use FreeAgent’s indispensable hub and commercial partnerships to help their clients manage and grow their businesses. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with FreeAgent experts and other accounting professionals over coffee and lunch.

4. Women in Accountancy and Finance Awards - 6th May, London
The Women in Accountancy and Finance Awards event is designed to highlight the achievements of women in practice, business and the third sector, as well as to help shape the discussion around improving diversity within these fields.
5. ICB Bookkeepers Summit - TBC
The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers’ annual Bookkeepers Summit is one of the biggest dates in the event calendar for bookkeepers. Attendees will participate in workshops and hear keynote talks from industry leaders about growing their bookkeeping firms.
6. Accounting Excellence Awards - 10th September, location TBC
Now in its 10th year, the Accounting Excellence Awards celebrate the contributions and innovations of accounting firms and software providers. New awards this year include ‘Sole Practitioner of the Year’, ‘Digital Firm of the Year’ and ‘Bookkeeping Firm of the Year’.
7. Accountex Summit North - 22nd September, Manchester
Accountex Summit North, a free, Manchester-based conference, will feature talks from industry leaders and is a great place to find out more about the latest tools and technologies available to practices.
8. Accounting for the Future - TBC
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' flagship virtual conference, Accounting for the Future, will return this year to help practices prepare for the opportunities and challenges facing the industry in 2020 and beyond. This event is a great opportunity for you to keep up to speed with the latest trends and find out how the digital age is reshaping the industry landscape.
9. AccountingWEB Live - 2nd and 3rd December, Coventry
AccountingWEB Live is one of the UK’s newest accounting exhibitions. Industry representatives will come together for two days of CPD-accredited educational workshops, seminars and product demos. Whether you’re just starting out in the profession or you simply want to learn more about the industry’s latest trends, this event is likely to tick a lot of boxes.
