FreeAgent for Landlords is MTD-ready
Since it launched in 2022, FreeAgent for Landlords has been making it easier for accountants and bookkeepers to manage clients who earn income from property.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve taken things a step further. FreeAgent for Landlords is now officially ready for MTD for Income Tax and is recognised by HMRC as a compatible MTD solution.
We’ve enhanced our landlord functionality, which already allows users to assign income and expenses to specific properties and view detailed property-level Profit & Loss, to now include a dedicated MTD for Income Tax filing area.
Designed to give users clarity and compliance (without the stress!), this new section lets you:
- track submission deadlines with ease
- review quarterly figures and final declarations with confidence
- submit updates to HMRC in a streamlined, fully compliant way
With built-in Profit & Loss reporting at the property level, you get a crystal-clear view of how each property is performing, not just when it’s time to submit, but all year round. Smarter decisions, fewer surprises.
A smarter way to handle split ownership
Similar to FreeAgent, FreeAgent for Landlords gives you a completely end-to-end MTD for Income Tax solution without the need for other software. Plus, unlike many competitors, FreeAgent for Landlords allows users to set different ownership splits for each property.
This means our solution allows joint owners, such as a husband and wife, to operate under a single licence. Instead of double the bookkeeping, or the added complexity of manually calculating each person’s share of every transaction before entering it, users do the bookkeeping once. FreeAgent will automatically allocate income and expenses between owners based on the ratios chosen. It’s more efficient, less error-prone, and significantly reduces admin time.
So whether it’s a 50/50 buy-to-let with a partner or a more complex arrangement across multiple properties, FreeAgent keeps things simple and accurate.
