Brexit: keeping you informed as the landscape evolves
Ed Molyneux, CEO and Founder
Here at FreeAgent, the long and complex process that the government has been undertaking to deliver Brexit is something that we’ve been watching very closely. We know that a lot of accountants, bookkeepers and their clients are understandably anxious about what lies ahead in a post-Brexit future and we’re committed to helping them as much as possible through the transition.
Following Friday’s implementation of the government’s Withdrawal Agreement Bill, the UK has now officially ended its membership of the European Union. It’s anticipated that up to a year’s worth of negotiations will now take place to secure a new agreement on trade between the UK and the EU.
We don’t yet know what will happen during these talks or what that agreement will eventually look like. While most EU law is likely to still apply during the transition period, it's still unclear exactly what changes lie in store.
Whatever the outcome of the negotiations, we’ll be monitoring the situation very closely over the coming months. We’re committed to guiding our accountant and bookkeeper partners and their small business clients through this transition period and ensuring that our software remains compliant with the most up-to-date tax legislation.
